As farmers, each seed we plant or animal we raise can help shift our food system. Advocating for better policy can amplify that change, replicating our individual successes across the landscape. What does it take to do both? This roundtable will explore what you need to know to be an advocate-farmer. We will cover the basics of federal agriculture policy and the farm bill, look ahead to what to expect in 2019, and strategize about key northeastern targets and tactics. Facilitator Ariana Taylor-Stanley will share stories from her own work as a farmer and policy advocate: she co-owns and operates Here We Are Farm in Central NY and serves as Northeast Regional Organizer for the National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition.
